SIMCOE LIFE - THE GIFT OF LIFE
Anyone Can Be A Hero
BY CHRISTINA ISMAILOS 05.15.2012
HOW DO YOU BECOME A HERO AT 17? Just ask the students at Governor Simcoe Secondary School. In the last two years, Simcoe has been working with Canadian Blood Services to encourage youth to give life saving blood. Once a month, the local clinic sends a Life Bus to transport ten students who have volunteered to donate. In the 2011-2012 year, Simcoe staff and students have made 47 donations with more on the way. Each donation, or unit, is divided into red blood cells, platelets and plasma so it can potentially help three patients. It’s simple to see just how many people have benefited from this new Simcoe initiative.
